ESG Ratings Public Notification
Pre‑Issuance Notice
S&P Global Sustainable1 provides dataset‑specific public notifications to inform rated entities and issuers, where applicable, prior to the first issuance of certain ESG Rating dataset outputs, in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
These notifications are informational in nature and are intended solely to allow the identification of potential factual errors before first issuance. They do not constitute consultation, approval, or validation of methodologies or outcomes.
Your Rights as a Rated Entity
Prior to first issuance of the relevant dataset(s), rated entities may:
- Identify potential factual errors in information used for the ESG Rating dataset
- Request their ESG Rating(s), where applicable
- Request clarification on whether they are included in a dataset universe
This process does not provide for consultation on, or validation of, methodologies or rating outcomes.
Dataset Notifications
Each dataset listed below is subject to its own notification period and reference materials. Please review the relevant section(s) carefully.

Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) Scores
In 2025 S&P Global started providing participating companies with 7 calendar day upfront notice regarding the public release of their CSA results.
Starting with the 2026 cycle, the 7-day notification will provide companies with confidential access to their scores as well as the assessed version of the questionnaire used to calculate the scores. This allows companies to understand exactly which data points were and were not accepted, added or changed during the assessment process.
This notice will be sent to the company user designated as the Main Contact in the Sustainability Reporting Portal, with all other company Administrators copied. For more information, please follow the CSA score release page.

Physical Risk Exposure Scores
Forward‑looking assessments of exposure to climate‑related physical hazards, based on publicly available data and methodologies.
Rated entities included
Identifiers only (e.g., legal entity name and jurisdiction). No scores, risk values, or quantitative outputs are included. -
Controversies Dataset
Controversy Analysis leverages its ongoing Media and Stakeholder Analysis (MSA) process to identify, review, and assess negative events where a company’s actions conflict with its stated commitments or reveal failures in governance, management, or operational controls. Country & Subnational Climate Physical Risk Dataset
Climate physical risk information at country and subnational levels, using publicly available data sources and methodologies.

Municipal Climate Physical Risk Dataset
Climate physical risk information for municipal‑level entities, based on publicly available methodologies.

Assessments related to nature‑ and biodiversity‑related risks, using publicly available methodologies.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Dataset
The SDG outputs provide an assessment of an entities’ positive and negative contribution to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals through the contribution of its products and services to the SDGs and exposure to controversies affecting the achievement of the SDGs.

In advance of the notification period for regulated datasets, links and materials related to rated entities will be made available on this page
What Happens Next?
All submissions are logged and reviewed to determine whether they constitute a substantiated factual concern or a valid rating request. Where applicable, first issuance may be temporarily withheld pending review, and the submitter will be informed of the outcome.
