Prevailing length in the European jet fuel- a temporary imbalance or the new normal?

This year has seen an almost unprecedented length in the European jet fuel market on the back of heavy cross regional resupply into the region. The length has been further exacerbated by the increased output from the European refineries. The physical surplus has dented jet cargo and barge premiums, sending them to historic low levels. The pronounced weakness has also created some attractive storage economics for the market.

Platts Ferrous Market Webinar “Steel Trade Cases: What’s the impact?”

US steelmakers utilize the antidumping and countervailing duty laws more than any other industry. Facing surging imports of low-priced, unfairly traded products, the US imposed duties on seven products last year, and six of them were on steel products. We’ve already seen four major steel trade cases launched this year, and with possibly more on the way, the implications on the market could be huge. So, who are the potential winners and losers in the ongoing global trade battle? How could these trade investigations affect production and pricing for steel in the US?

Natural Gas Winter Outlook

2015 will go down as the year of broken records. We are on pace to break the record for US power burn demand, US production, and season-ending storage. While natural gas production has increased substantially over the last two years, growth in demand hasn’t kept pace. This means that there is a very real chance of ending the injection season at over 4 Tcf. Without an increase in demand or a slowdown in production, this could lead to sustained low natural gas prices through 2016. While producers benefitted from higher prices for most of 2014, we are now entering a golden age for natural gas consumers.
