SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts to revise LNG APDR, ATDR vessel sizes

Following a methodology change announced November 10, 2015, Platts is proposing to make further changes to its shipping assessments and freight route costs.

Platts is proposing to update its Asia Pacific LNG Carrier Day Rates (APDR) and Atlantic LNG Carrier Day Rates (ATDR) assessments to account for carriers of 155,000-180,000 cu m.

The LNG carrier market for single-voyage spot charters has been changing, as the available spot LNG fleet shifts to newer tonnage following a recent influx of new build vessels.

These changes have prompted a revision of the standard shipping assumptions in Platts shipping calculator to calculate freight costs based on vessel size 155,000-180,000 cu m.

As such, Platts is also proposing to revise its daily charter rates for APDR (symbol: AARXT00) and ATDR (symbol: AASYC00) to 155,000-180,000 cu m.

Platts is also proposing to update the voyage times used in its freight cost calculation assumptions to reflect point to point distances and current trade patterns in LNG.

The revised assumptions would become effective January 4, 2016, on page NG1025 of Platts Natural Gas Alert and in the Shipping and Price tables on pages 3 and 6 of the LNG Daily newsletter and on the Platts LNG Navigator and Platts Market Center services.
