Platts to refine Thermal Coal FOB Kalimantan Ash Differential 1%, FOB Kalimantan Sulfur Differential 0.1% assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will refine the Thermal Coal FOB Kalimantan Ash Differential 1% (AVTCI00) and the FOB Kalimantan Sulfur Differential 0.1% (AVTCH00) assessments, effective Dec. 7, 2026.

The decision follows market feedback for greater transparency in the pricing of Indonesian thermal coal. Market feedback indicated that coal grades with a heat value of 5,000 kcal/kg GAR or below are considered to fall within the same band for ash and sulfur differential adjustments.

The decision follows a proposal note, published Oct. 16, 2026, here.

As such, Platts will rename its FOB Kalimantan ash and sulfur differentials to apply to coal grades with a heat value of 5,000 kcal/kg GAR or below.

Platts will also rename the assessments in line with the change, as below:

Thermal Coal FOB Kalimantan Low-to-Mid-CV Ash Differential 1% AVTCI00
