Platts proposes to launch US Gulf Coast distillers corn oil assessment Jan. 4, 2027
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, proposes to launch a daily distillers corn oil (DCO) assessment for the US Gulf Coast region, effective Jan. 4, 2027.
This proposal follows recent changes in waste feedstock trade flows and increased activity in the US Gulf Coast market. Imports of DCO are eligible under the 45z Clean Fuel Production Credit following its implementation.
The proposed assessment would provide greater transparency into the US Gulf Coast waste feedstock market, production of biodiesel, renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel in the region. The assessment would also provide additional transparency for DCO, a key coproduct of the corn ethanol production process.
The assessment would reflect the specifications below:
| Assessment Name | Basis and Location | Cargo Size | Delivery period | UoM | Quality |
| Distillers corn oil DAP USGC | DAPUSGC by rail | Minimum 5 Railcars (200,000lb each) | 15-45 days forward | US cents/lb | Max. 15%of free fatty acids Max. 3% Moisture, Insolublematter andUnsaponifiables |
This assessment would represent DCO delivered by rail into the US Gulf Coast, including terminals from Corpus Christi to New Orleans . Market information received reflecting alternative specifications, including different delivery locations or transportation modes, may be considered and normalized to the above specifications.
The assessment would consider market information reported to Platts and published as heards throughout the day, including firm bids and offers, trades, and indicative values, as well as any other data deemed relevant to the assessment process.
The assessment would be published as an outright price reflecting a 13:30 Houston time market close and would follow the Platts US publishing schedule.
The proposed assessment would be published on Energy Core, in Biofuelscan, Biomass-Based Diesel Report and on fixed page PB0012 .
