Platts launches Phase 2 CORSIA-eligible credit assessments, Nov. 2
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has launched price assessments for Phase 2 CORSIA-eligible credits, effective Nov. 2, 2026.
Platts CEC (Phase 2) – and complementary forward year and spread assessments – reflects the value of credits eligible for Phase 2 of the International Civil Aviation Organization's Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) program.
The first phase of CORSIA covers emissions from flights between states that volunteer to participate in the program, and runs from 2024 to 2026, although parties can continue to retire eligible credits until Jan. 31, 2028. From 2027, all international flights will be subject to offsetting requirements, with some exceptions, as the scheme moves into Phase 2.
Platts has launched two separate assessments: one for Phase 2 CORSIA-eligible credits for delivery and 2027 (current year) and one for the year-forward delivery (2028). The assessments reflect volumes of 20,000-100,000 metric tons of CO2 equivalent in the over-the-counter market. They track Phase 2 eligibility criteria outlined by ICAO, including any revisions or clarifications.
Platts has also launched two calculated spreads, showing the discount or premium for Phase 2 CORSIA-eligible credits compared with Phase 1 credits for current-year delivery and for one-year forward delivery.
The assessments will follow the below delivery year roll logic:
| Nov. 2, 2026-Dec. 31, 2027 | Jan. 3-Jan. 31, 2028 | |
| Platts CEC (Phase 2) $/mtCO2e | 2027 delivery | 2028 delivery |
| Platts CEC (Phase 2) Yr01 $/mtCO2e | 2028 delivery | 2029 delivery |
A summary of the new daily assessments, symbols and corresponding Euro conversions and monthly averages is as follows:
| Assessment Name | Symbol | Euro Conversion | Monthly Average (USD) | Monthly Average (EUR) |
| Platts CEC (Phase 2) $/mtCO2e | CECPA00 | CECPC00 | CECPA03 | CECPC03 |
| Platts CEC (Phase 2) Yr01 $/mtCO2e | CECPD00 | CECPE00 | CECPD03 | CECPE03 |
| Platts CEC (Phase 2)/Platts CEC CY Spread $/mtCO2e | CECPF00 | CECPG00 | CECPF03 | CECPG03 |
| Platts CEC (Phase 2)/Platts CEC Yr01 Spread $/mtCO2e | CECPH00 | CECPI00 | CECPH03 | CECPI03 |
The new assessments are assessed to a 16:30 London time stamp and follow the Platts London holiday calendar. Platts will consider bids, offers, trades and any other market information deemed relevant to the assessment process up until the 16.30 London time market on close.
The new assessments are published in Carbon Markets Daily, Platts Aviation Weekly, and on fixed pages CMA2004, ETA2004, CMA2009, ETA2009 (daily), CMA2011, ETA2011 (monthly averages).
Platts CORSIA coverage
The Phase 2 assessments sit alongside Platts CEC (PCECA00) and Platts CEC Yr01 (PDCEC00), which will continue to reflect credits eligible for delivery under Phase 1 of the scheme until Jan. 31, 2028.
In the event of crossover of credit eligibility between the two phases, Platts will consider information for both assessments, but the assessments will continue to reflect the most competitively-priced, fully eligible credits for either Phase 1 or Phase 2 of CORSIA, respectively.
The ICAO registry and methodology limits are set out here.
As CORSIA rolls from Phase 1 to Phase 2, Platts has outlined its plan to publish parallel assessments until Jan. 31, 2028. For further information on roll logic, publishing dates and delivery years reflected by each of the assessments, please see the subscriber note here, published on Sept. 3, 2026.
Platts first proposed these assessments on July 15 in a subscriber note available here.
