Platts proposes to exclude taxes from Brazilian technical corn oil assessment Dec. 1

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, proposes to update its technical corn oil (TCO) ex-works Mato Grosso price assessment to exclude federal PIS/Cofins taxes, totaling 9.25%, effective Dec. 1, 2026. This change would place the assessment on a net-taxes basis.

The proposal follows feedback from market participants and reflects the growing prevalence of TCO trade conducted on a tax-exclusive basis. The change would provide a consistent reference for underlying market prices, allowing participants to account for their own tax treatment where applicable. It would also better reflect export-oriented trade flows originating in Mato Grosso.

Under the proposal, bids, offers, and trades reported on a tax-exclusive basis would be considered without adjustment for taxes. Platts would normalize bids, offers, trades and price indications reported inclusive of taxes to a tax-exclusive basis by removing the applicable tax component.

The proposal would affect the following assessments:

  • TCO EXW Mato Grosso BRL/mt – Daily (TEMGA00)
  • TCO EXW Mato Grosso BRL/mt – Weekly Avg (TEMGA04)
  • TCO EXW Mato Grosso BRL/mt – Monthly avg (TEMGA03)
  • TCO EXW Mato Grosso $/mt – Daily (TEMGB00)
  • TCO EXW Mato Grosso $/mt – Weekly Avg (TEMGB04)
  • TCO EXW Mato Grosso $/mt – Monthly avg (TEMGB03)

The assessment would continue to reflect a timestamp of 17:30 São Paulo.
