Platts proposes to change Medanito and Escalante crude FOB typical cargo size effective Dec. 14

Following industry feedback, Platts proposes to revise its Medanito FOB assessments typical cargo size from 600,000 barrels to 750,000 barrels, as well as its Escalante FOB assessments typical cargo size to 350,000 barrels, effective Dec. 14.

For Medanito, Platts also proposes to include a 650,000-barrel minimum and an 850,000-barrel maximum for cargoes that would be included in these assessments.

The changes would affect the assessments published under the following Platts symbols:

Platts understands that cargoes loading on an FOB basis from the Puerto Rosales terminal in Buenos Aires, Argentina with adequate draft availability are consistently loading to about 750,000 barrels. Industry feedback indicates this cargo size has become the market standard in FOB trading in the region. Industry feedback also indicates that loadings of Escalante have reduced to 350,000 barrels in size.
