Merchantability of gasoline in Platts Singapore MOC assessments
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, would like to remind market participants that Platts assessments reflect material that is of merchantable quality.
All cargoes reflected in the Platts FOB Singapore gasoline assessments and Market on Close assessment process must at all times be deemed to meet industry standards, including with respect to the merchantability of the product.
Grades that are not widely merchantable, including gasoline containing unusual additives such as MMT, secondary butyl acetate, Dimethyl Carbonate (DMC), or other acetates such as methyl acetate above trace levels, as well as gasoline containing unusually high quantities of certain additives or blendstocks that are not typical, will not be reflected in the assessments.
Platts understands that gas chromatography is typically used by market participants to detect additives such as secondary butyl acetate and methyl acetate in gasoline.
