Platts proposes to include Renewable Diesel and update component weightings for Global Transportation Fuels Index for 2027
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, proposes to include Renewable Diesel and update the component weightings used in the Platts Global Transportation Fuels Index (ADEXA00), effective Jan. 4, 2027.
The revised weightings reflect the relative demand from the global transportation sector by fuel type, following a review of the latest S&P Global CERA Refining and Marketing Annual Strategic workbook data, last published in April 2026.
The proposed weightings for the components, effective Jan. 4, 2027, are as follows:
| Assessment | Symbol | Currency/UOM | Current weighting | Revised weighting from Jan. 4, 2027 |
| Gasoline CBOB 87 USGC | AARQU00 | cents/gal | 26.82% | 37.17% |
| ULSD 10ppmS CIF NWE Cargo | AAVBG00 | $/mt | 48.24% | 40.12% |
| Global Jet Index | PJGLO09 | $/mt | 9.81% | 10.01% |
| FOB Spore Marine Fuel 0.5% Cargo | AMFSA00 | $/mt | 11.10% | 8.75% |
| Chicago Argo Ethanol | AALRI00 | cents/gal | 4.03% | 2.36% |
| Renewable Diesel RD-A FOB Farag | ANEWA00 | $/mt | N/A | 1.59% |
The Platts Global Transportation Fuels Index (ADEXA00) is a composite daily index featuring key Platts transportation fuels physical benchmarks across road, air, sea and rail, weighted by the relative demand associated with each fuel type.
The weightings in the index represent a broad view of proportional transportation fuels around the world. The weightings are reviewed annually to keep the index representative of global supply and demand trends.
More details about the calculations and methodology of the index can be found in the Platts Global Commodity Indices Specifications Guide at: https://www.spglobal.com/content/dam/spglobal/ci/en/documents/platts/en/our-methodology/methodology-specifications/commodity-indices/commodity-indices-specifications.pdf.
