Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, launched daily spot cash differential assessments for JKM LNG physical cargoes on Oct. 17.
The move followed industry feedback and data observed for an expanding proportion of floating price transactions taking place in the Asia-Pacific LNG spot market.
Cash differentials, also known as premiums or discounts, represent the prices counterparties trade against benchmark values published. Platts first announced the launch of these assessments in a subscriber note published Aug. 24, 2022: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/082422-platts-to-launch-spot-cash-differential-assessments-for-jkm-lng-oct-17.
Platts will publish spot cash differentials for the daily JKM assessment (AAOVQ00), which reflects the spread between the JKM assessment against derivative assessments as follows:
LNG Japan/Korea DES BalMo Next-Day Cash Differential (AAOVU00)
LNG Japan/Korea DES BalMo Next-Day Cash Differential MAvg (AAOVU03)
LNG Japan/Korea DES Cash Differential Mo01 (AAOVW00)
LNG Japan/Korea DES Cash Differential Mo01 MAvg (AAOVW03)
LNG Japan/Korea DES Pricing Month Cash Differential (AAOXX00)
LNG Japan/Korea DES Pricing Month Cash Differential MAvg (AAOXX03)
These assessments appear on Platts LNG Daily, Platts LNG Alert pages LNG0888, LNG0889 and Platts Natural Gas Alert pages PGN1020 and PGN1044 under the price database codes above.
The cash differential assessments reflect values at the close of the Platts Market on Close assessment process for Asia LNG at 4:30 pm in Singapore (0830 GMT) and will follow the Singapore publishing schedule.
