Platts proposes to adopt Brazil Central Bank Ptax FX rate as dollar, euro to real conversions from Jan. 4, 2027

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, proposes to assess some of its assessments utilizing Ptax foreign exchange rate references published by the Brazilian Central Bank (Bacen). This applies to several assessments containing dollar and euro to reais conversions, effective Jan. 4, 2027.

The proposal would align more closely with Brazilian market conventions. Platts understands that Ptax is widely used in financial and commercial transactions.

Under the proposal, Platts would assess the daily FX rates under the following existing Platts symbols, taking into account Ptax bid and ask closing quotes. Ptax opening and intermediate quotes would not be considered.

Symbol Conversion
BRLUB00 EUR/BRL
USDRE00 USD/BRL
AUFUT00
USDBR00
USDBL00

Additional Platts assessments that derive BRL, EUR or USD conversions from these FX symbols would also be affected by the proposed change. The full list is available here.

The publication of these FX rates would follow Platts Brazil publishing schedule. On Brazil non-publishing days, Platts would use the latest published values under these symbols for the conversions that follow other publishing schedules, in line with prevailing market practice.
