Platts opens consultation on updating the SAF cost of production

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has opened a consultation on updating the yields, fixed costs, depreciation, hydrogen prices, and utility costs reflected in the global Sustainable Aviation Fuel (H-S) cost of production calculated assessments.

The assessments reflect the production cost of sustainable aviation fuel produced via the Hydrotreated Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA) pathway, and any updates would aim to ensure that the assessments continue to reflect current market conditions and industry trends.

Platts recognizes that factors such as input fixed costs have evolved, and that technological developments and operational practices continue to influence the cost structure of SAF production.

Platts seeks feedback on:

• The current SAF cost reflected in the calculation
• The feedstock used in the calculation
• The fixed costs and yields used in the calculation
• Market trends or regional factors that may impact SAF production costs
