Platts proposes to update several basket flat rates for clean tanker freight assessments, Jan. 4, 2027

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, proposes to change the basket of routes used in the dollar per metric ton calculations for several clean tanker freight assessments to ensure the port combinations reflected in the equivalent $/mt assessments remain representative of current market conditions, effective Jan. 4, 2027.

In markets where freight is traded on a Worldscale basis, Platts also publishes equivalent $/ mt freight rates, based on a basket of Worldscale flat rates comprising several key routes between the two regions specified in the assessment.

The proposed modifications are designed to enhance the accuracy of Platts tanker freight assessments by aligning the basket composition with the most representative international liquid route combinations in the West of Suez clean tanker market.

Effective Jan. 4, 2027, the following freight assessments would reflect the most representative port combinations based on quantitative and qualitative feedback gathered by Platts, part of S&P Global Energy.
