Platts proposes to discontinue US carbon-accounted methanol assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is proposing to discontinue its US carbon-accounted methanol assessments, effective Jan. 2, 2026.

The proposal refers to the assessments databased under the following symbols:

These assessments reflect the value of conventional methanol and methanol as a marine fuel, for which all of the greenhouse gas emissions have been accounted for, and offset, via the purchase of voluntary carbon credits.

The affected assessments are published on Platts Connect, in Solventswire, and the Europe and US Petrochemicalscan, and on Platts Price Point database.
