Platts updates biodiesel and soybean oil export duty in biodiesel FOB Argentina assessment Sept. 26

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has updated the Argentina export duty on soybean oil to 24.5% from 0% and biodiesel to 29% from 0% in its FOB Argentina biodiesel assessment, in line with government guidelines, effective Sept. 26, 2025.

On Sept. 25, sworn export sales declarations (DJVE) reached $7 billion, triggering the change.

On Sept. 23, the Argentine government introduced a temporary 0% export duty on soybean oil and biodiesel, to remain in effect until Oct. 31, 2025, or until cumulative DJVE filings reached $7 billion, whichever came first.

Platts methodology states that it will update export duty values in the formula upon any changes from the Argentine government, as tracked in the Boletín Oficial de la República Argentina. Platts will notify the market of any changes through subscriber notes.

This updated duty is reflected in the Platts daily calculated assessment for biodiesel exported from Argentina (AARGA00).

The affected assessment reflects FOB Up River bulk cargoes, typically around 30,000 metric tons, intended for the export market.

This assessment follows the Platts Argentina publishing schedule and follows the 17:30 Sao Paulo timestamp and is available in the Platts price database, in the Biofuelscan report, and on Platts Biofuels Alert and Platts Connect.
