Platts launches Sidi Kerir-Far East VLCC freight and TCE assessments effective Sept. 25, 2026

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has launched new daily Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) dirty tanker freight assessments for the Sidi Kerir-Far East route, effective Sept. 25, 2026.

The new assessments reflect evolving crude trade flows and tanker-routing patterns involving Sidi Kerir, including increased VLCC activity linked to crude exports to Asia via the Cape of Good Hope.

The assessment is based on a 270,000 metric ton cargo loading 15-45 days forward and will be published on both a lumpsum and $/mt basis, in accordance with observed spot market practices.

In addition, Platts has launched two time-charter equivalent (TCE) VLCC assessments for the Sidi Kerir-Ulsan route, covering scrubber-fitted, eco-class ships and non-scrubber-fitted, non-eco ships.

The assessments follow the London publishing calendar and reflect a 1630 London timestamp. The new assessments appear in Dirty Tankerwire and on Platts Shipping Alert pages SHP0302, PGT1970 and SHP1440.
