Platts proposes to amend CFR Brazil polypropylene laycan to 71-100 days forward

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, is proposing to amend the delivery timing specification of its polypropylene CFR Brazil spot assessments from 20-40 days forward to 71-100 days forward to better reflect prevailing spot trading norms, effective Nov. 18.

The proposed change seeks to reflect the growth of market share for Middle Eastern, Egyptian and Asian materials, which form the bulk of the spot transactions in the Brazilian market, based on observation and data collected by Platts.

Based on market feedback, Platts understands that Middle Eastern, Egyptian and Asian materials typically trade within a longer delivery timing of 71-100 days forward. An update of the delivery timing specification to 71-100 days forward would enable cargoes from these regions to be more effectively reflected in the assessment.

The assessments currently appear in their existing locations in Polymerscan and Polymerscan Latin America, on fixed pages PCA0246, PCA0283 and PCA0463 on S&P Global Energy Core, and in the Platts Price Point Database.

Platts also proposes to expand its polyethylene PE CFR Brazil spot assessment coverage by launching new forward delivery assessments reflecting delivery 71-100 days forward. Platts also proposes to adjust the existing assessments to reflect delivery 40-70 days forward. These changes are proposed to take effect Nov. 18.
