Platts to launch transitional NWE 0.1% gasoil freight netforward assessments Oct. 1
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will start publishing a suite of transitional assessments and related spreads for NWE 0.1% gasoil freight netforward from Oct. 1, 2026, based on the new netforward methodology that will be applied to the existing CIF NWE 0.1% gasoil cargo benchmark price assessments from Jan. 4, 2027. The transitional assessments and related spreads will be published through to Dec. 31, 2026, to provide participants with an extended period of transitional reference data supporting the methodology changes to benchmark CIF NWE 0.1% gasoil cargo coming into effect from January 2027.
This follows a decision published Sept. 4 and available here.
The transitional freight netforward assessment will represent a freight netforward from the existing Gasoil 0.1%S (1,000 ppm) FOB ARA Barge assessment (AAYWT00) and will be derived using the relevant daily freight rates published in Platts Clean Tankerwire for UKC-UKC 22,000 mt cargoes (PFALY00). The freight component will be calculated as the incremental freight differential between two baskets of freight routes: an ARA basket covering Brofjorden to Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp and Antwerp to Amsterdam and Rotterdam; and a Le Havre basket covering Brofjorden/Antwerp to Le Havre.
In addition, Platts will publish through this transitional period the differential between the freight netforward from FOB 0.1% gasoil barges and the CIF NWE 0.1% gasoil cargoes (AAYWS00).
The new assessments will appear in Platts price database under the following codes:
| Assessment | Symbol |
| Freight netforward from FOB 0.1% gasoil barges | AAYGN00 |
| Freight netforward from FOB 0.1% gasoil barges (monthly average) | AAYGN03 |
| Spread between freight netforward and CIF NWE 0.1% gasoil cargoes | AAZGN00 |
| Spread between freight netforward and CIF NWE 0.1% gasoil cargoes (monthly average) | AAZGN03 |
