Platts reflects zero PIS, COFINS tax rate in Brazil hydrous ethanol assessments, effective Sept. 10
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, is reflecting the reduction of the PIS and COFINS federal tax rate on hydrous ethanol to zero in its Brazilian hydrous ethanol assessments, effective Sept. 10, 2026.
The Brazilian government reduced the PIS and COFINS federal taxes on hydrous ethanol to zero from Real 192.20/cubic meter, effective Sept. 10. In line with the Platts Global Biofuels Methodology and Specifications Guide, Brazilian domestic hydrous ethanol assessments include applicable ICMS, PIS, and COFINS taxes. Platts will therefore reflect the zero PIS and COFINS rates in the affected assessments as of the effective date.
The affected assessments are:
AAXNQ00 – Hydrous Ethanol Ex-mill Ribeirão Preto
ADROA00 – Hydrous Ethanol CIF Paulínia
AAXNR00 – Hydrous Ethanol FOB Santos/Paranaguá
AAXOA00 – Ex-mill Ribeirao Hydrous Raw Sugar equivalent
The assessments appear in Platts Connect, Biofuelscan, and other Platts publications and services under the codes listed above. Please submit any feedback, comments, or questions regarding this change to platts_biofuels@spglobal.com and pricegroup@spglobal.com.
