Platts proposes to update vintage specifications for certain APAC Carbon Credit assessments, Oct 1

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, proposes to update the vintages reflected in its Platts REDD Katingan, Platts WRC Sumatra Merang, and Platts Nature-based Avoidance Southeast Asia carbon credit assessments, effective Oct. 1.

This proposal follows the issuance of new credits from Indonesia with more recent vintages in July this year, with a portion of these credits now available in the spot market.

Platts identifies the vintage range reflected by each of its carbon credit assessments based on observed liquidity and fungibility, with the objective of capturing typical market activity.

Under this proposal, Platts Nature-based Avoidance Southeast Asia, Platts REDD Katingan and Platts WRC Sumatra Merang would incorporate credits carrying the most recent vintages in circulation, from 2021 through 2023.

In addition, Platts Nature-based Avoidance Southeast Asia Year 01 would reflect vintages 2022-23 to better reflect market activity for credits to be delivered in 2027.

Platts also publishes monthly averages for these assessments listed above on CMA2011 and ETA2011.
