Platts to change frequency for US Calcined Petcoke assessment; maintain monthly assessment as average of weekly assessments
Following a period of industry feedback, Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will increase the frequency of its Calcined Pet Coke FOB US Gulf assessment to weekly from the current monthly frequency, effective Jan. 4, 2027.
The existing monthly assessment (MMXEV00), which is currently published on the last business day of the month at midday ET, will remain but will change to a monthly average calculation based on the average high and average low of all weekly assessments for the month. Following this change, the monthly average price will be published as soon as the last weekly assessment for the month is published. The monthly assessment's historical data, which dates back to May 2013, will be preserved, along with the symbol and description.
The addition of a weekly assessment will enable greater transparency and capture the most current spot market conditions as liquidity is increasingly observed throughout the month.
The new Calcined Pet Coke FOB US Gulf weekly assessment will be published on Fridays from the week of Jan. 4 , with a 4:30 pm ET timestamp. In the event of a public holiday, the price assessment would be brought forward one day.
Platts US CPC assessment is published in Platts Metals Daily, on Platts Metals Alert fixed page 055, and in the Platts pricing database.
