Platts clarifies approach to publication of US monthly benzene industry-settled contract price
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, is clarifying the publication threshold for its US monthly benzene industry-settled contract price (PHAAD00).
Platts databases industry-settled contract prices upon confirmation of a full settlement from the market.
In cases where confirmation of a full settlement cannot be obtained, Platts will not database a settlement value.
Based on market feedback received since the August split settlement on Aug. 1, Platts understands that the market no longer considers a split market settlement as a full settlement.
As a result, in any future instances of a split settlement, Platts will not database a value for its US monthly benzene industry-settled contract price symbol.
Platts also publishes an alternative contract price assessment each month, calculated as the simple average of its daily spot assessments over the 10 business days preceding the last two business days of the month.
This Platts Benzene CP assessment can be found under symbol PUSBC00.
The details of this assessment, launched on June 26, 2026, can be found here.
Platts has backfilled pricing history for this assessment to January 2026.
Platts benzene assessments in the US are published on S&P Global Energy Core, in Europe and Americas Petrochemicalscan and on Petrochemical Alert fixed pages PCA0321, PCA0434, PCA0448.
