Platts standardizes MMBtu-GIG conversion factor
Platts has standardized the unit conversion factors used in its editorial systems for conversions between million British thermal units (MMBtu) and gigajoules (GIG) across its editorial systems, effective Aug. 24.
The change aligns conversion factors currently used across Platts' pricing systems and is intended to ensure consistency.
The updated conversion factors are as follows:
- MMBtu to GIG: 1.055056
- and inversely, GIG to MMBtu: 0.947817
The change affects the following LNG assessments, which previously used the conversion factors of MMBtu to GIG: 1.0550559865459261. Testing has shown the impact on assessed values to be minimal.

- LNG Bunker Singapore Price by Calorific Value $/GJ (CVLNS00)
