Platts launches new Asia Pork Belly price assessment Aug 3

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has expanded its Asia pork assessments to include a new Pork Belly (Sheet-ribbed) CFR North Asia assessment, effective Aug. 3, 2026.

The new assessment complements Platts' existing "field-to-fork" coverage in the Asia-Pacific, which includes the Pork Belly (Single-ribbed) CFR North Asia assessment, and provides additional transparency into the global animal proteins market.

The assessment reflects the daily spot value of frozen, sheet-ribbed, skinless pork bellies delivered into Japan on a CFR basis.

The assessment specifications are as follows:

Symbol: GPSEC00

Monthly Average Symbol: GPSEC03

Basis and location: CFR Tokyo, Japan, excluding terminal handling charges

Quality: Frozen pork belly, skinless and sheet-ribbed

The launch follows a proposal published June 4 in the subscriber note here, and a decision published July 6 confirming the launch here.

The assessment is published on fixed pages PAA0100, PAA0241, PAA0242, PAA0243, and PAA1500, in Platts Web, Platts Protein Daily, and in Energy Core.
