Energy Transition, Emissions, Carbon
July 31, 2026
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will change the composition of its Platts CAC basket assessment, effective Sept. 1, 2026.
Platts initially proposed this change in a subscriber note published July 14.
Platts CAC reflects the most competitive of a number of Platts carbon price assessments, reflecting credits from projects that reduce or avoid carbon emissions.
The change reflects evolving market considerations around the floor price for avoidance credits, as well as Platts observations around price convergence between credit types.
Effective Sept. 1, 2026, Platts CAC Current Year and Yr01 will reflect the most competitive of the following assessments:
| Assessment Name | Symbol |
| Platts Methane Management $/mtCO2e Current Year | AMECA00 |
| Platts Household Devices $/mtCO2e Current Year | CNHDD00 |
| Platts Industrial Pollutants $/mtCO2e Current Year | APOLA00 |
| Assessment Name | Symbol |
| Platts Methane Management $/mtCO2e Yr01 | AMECB00 |
| Platts Household Devices $/mtCO2e Yr01 | AHDVA00 |
| Platts Industrial Pollutants $/mtCO2e Yr01 | APOLB00 |
As a result, Platts Nature-Based Avoidance Southeast Asia and Platts Nature-Based Avoidance South America will no longer be included in the Platts CAC basket effective Sept. 1, 2026. The last day of reflecting these assessments in the Platts CAC basket will be Aug. 31, 2026.
These daily assessments are published in Carbon Markets Daily and S&P Global Energy Core in the service lines ETA and CMA.
Further details on Platts' carbon assessment specifications can be found here.
