Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will launch a forward curve for Platts Generic No AD ACCU assessment, extending the existing market-assessed six-month curve to 36 months, effective Sept. 14, 2026.
Platts' new forward curve provides calculated assessments for Generic No AD ACCU from month seven through month 36, extending the existing market-assessed forward curve for months one to six.
The Platts Generic No AD ACCU forwards reflect forward prices for Generic No AD ACCU from the front month onward. Generic No AD ACCU is part of the broader Generic ACCU basket but excludes avoided deforestation credits.
The front-month forward price rolls over on the 15th of each month, or the last business day before the 15th if it falls on a weekend or holiday.
Australian Carbon Credit Units, or ACCUs, are carbon credit instruments generated by carbon credit projects that avoid or remove 1 mt of CO2-equivalent greenhouse gas emissions under methodologies legislated by the Australian federal government.
Australia's Clean Energy Regulator issues ACCUs, maintains methodologies and regulates carbon projects. ACCUs are used by liable entities for offsetting emissions under Australia's emissions compliance scheme, the Safeguard Mechanism, as well as by businesses seeking to achieve voluntary emissions targets.
The new curve will continue to reflect volume and delivery specifications matching the spot Platts ACCU assessments:
The assessments will follow the Platts APAC Carbon holiday calendar.
Price information reflecting forward curve assessments is published on Platts' Core, along with other relevant market information.
