Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, proposes to rename and update the specifications of two Latin America granular muriate of potash (MOP) price assessments, effective Sept. 15, 2026.
These changes are intended to better reflect market dynamics in the region.
The proposed updates to the specifications of the weekly assessments are as follows:

Countries covered: Argentina, Belize, Brazil, Caribbean Islands, Costa Rica, Colombia, El Salvador, French Guyana, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Suriname, Uruguay, Venezuela. Discharge port: All Atlantic ports in the countries listed above. Where no granular grade MOP sales have been confirmed. Platts will use the known standard MOP price and apply the prevailing price differential where appropriate. |

The amendments would also include the introduction of a new "close" value, along with low and high values published at a standardized to minus $1/short ton, plus $1/st below and above the assessed close value, respectively.
These assessments are currently published on Energy Core, in the Platts Fertecon Potash Market Report and on the fixed page FEA0101. The prices are assessed on Tuesdays at 1630 Sao Paulo time and follow the Sao Paulo publishing schedule.
