SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes to launch daily Korea CFR Grade B Ethanol assessment

Platts proposes to launch a new daily spot physical assessment for industrial-grade ethanol normalized to Korean Grade B specifications, on a CFR Ulsan basis, in response to widespread market demand.

The daily assessment would launch October 1, 2015.

It would reflect the daily traded or tradable value of imported Grade B Ethanol at 1630 Singapore time (0830 GMT).

It is proposed that quality specifications would be normalized to standard Korean Grade B Ethanol, and volume would be normalized to 5,000 cu m.

Per Platts methodology, the assessment would be made using transactional information collected daily, including transactions, bids and offers.

In the absence of representative CFR Ulsan price information, Platts may also refer to FOB prices from relevant supply origins using prevailing spot freight rates.

Platts is inviting feedback on the proposed new assessment and the specifications through August 28, 2015.
