Platts proposes to update SAF ETJ USGC cost of production methodology, Aug. 24
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, is proposing to update its US Gulf Coast Ethanol-to-Jet Sustainable Aviation Fuel cost of production prices, effective Aug. 24, 2026.
Based on delays in the originally planned US SAF ETJ facilities and evolving production costs, Platts is proposing to revise the capacity from 26 million gallons to 10 million gallons to better reflect the current market supply.
Platts is also proposing to update the key cost inputs, including capital expenditure (capex), feedstocks, and the introduction of a royalty cost component.
The prices would continue to reflect the cost of producing SAF via the ethanol-to-jet pathway using ethanol and hydrogen as feedstocks.
