Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, proposes to amend quality specifications for part of its India and Myanmar rice price assessments, effective Sept. 1.
This is based on research and market engagement to ensure alignment with market-standard specifications and provide greater clarity regarding Platts rice coverage.
The proposed amendment reflects quality changes for the following price assessments:
| Assessment Name | Symbol | Current quality specification | Proposed Specification |
| India Long Grain Parboiled Milled Rice 5% STX FOB | LRCFG00 | sortex | silky sortex (single polished) |
| India Long Grain White Rice 5% Broken FOB | LRCAB00 | sortex | silky sortex (single polished) |
| India Long Grain White Rice 25% Broken FOB | LRCBE00 | non-sortex | silky sortex (single polished) |
| Myanmar Long Grain White Rice 5% Broken FOB FCL | LRHAB00 | milling degree well milled | well-milled double-polished sortex |
| Myanmar Long Grain White Rice B1 & B2 Broken FOB FCL | LRHCI00 | non-sortex | sortex |
The remaining specifications of the above assessments will be kept the same. Further details of Platts global rice coverage can be found in the Platts Global Grains and Oilseeds Specifications Guide.
The price assessments with the proposed changes are found on S&P Energy Core, Rice Daily publications and on fixed pages: PA2401, PA2412, PA3000, PA3003.
The assessments would consider market information reported to Platts and published as heards throughout the day, including firm bids and offers, trades, indicative values and any other data deemed relevant to the assessment process.
