Platts to discontinue weekly price assessment for US spot phthalic anhydride from July 14

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has decided to discontinue the weekly price assessment for US Gulf Coast spot phthalic anhydride effective July 14, 2023, on light of a lack of spot market liquidity.

This change was first proposed on April 11, 2023, available here.

Platts understands that PA pricing in the US typically follows monthly contract movements for feedstock orthoxylene and that spot liquidity for PA is low.

As part of the discontinuation, Platts will continue to provide insight into the spot PA market as part of its OX market coverage.

The PA assessment is currently published in Solventswire, Platts Dimensions Pro and Platts Market Center, as well as in the Price point database under the following symbols:
