Platts proposes to launch daily FOB NOLA ammonia barge assessment, update weekly assessment, Sept 24

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, proposes to launch a new daily assessment for ammonia barges in New Orleans and to refine the specifications of its existing FOB NOLA ammonia barge weekly assessment, effective Sept. 24, 2026.

The proposed new daily assessment is detailed below:

Assessment Name: Ammonia FOB NOLA Barge daily

Quality: Anhydrous ammonia, which is around 82% nitrogen and is stored and transported as a liquid under pressure at around minus 33 degrees Celsius

Quantity: 5,000 short tons.

Basis and location: FOB barge New Orleans, Louisiana

Timing: Spot. Product to be shipped up to thirty days forward

Frequency: Daily

Unit of assessment: $/st

Timestamp: 16:30 Sao Paulo close, published according to the Sao Paulo publishing calendar

In addition to the proposed launch of the new daily assessment, the existing weekly assessment would be revised to align with the daily assessment's specifications.

The FOB NOLA Brg $/st Wkly (FAMNJ04) assessment is currently assessed on a weekly basis as a low and high range, covering both spot and contract, with a minimum quantity of 1,500 short tons.

Under this proposal, the weekly range would reflect the lowest and highest of the proposed FOB NOLA Barge daily assessment published over the preceding trading week (Friday to Thursday).

Platts also proposes to launch a "close" value for the weekly assessment, reflecting market value at 16:30 São Paulo time on Thursdays, mirroring that day's daily assessment.

The proposed changes to the FOB NOLA Brg $/st Wkly assessment are outlined below:
