Platts clarifies that its Southeast Asia Thermal Coal marker (SEAT) reflects FOB Kalimantan 4200 GAR plus freight

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, would like to clarify that the Platts SEAT (CSEAA00), or Southeast Asia Thermal Coal marker, assessment methodology reflects the value of the FOB Kalimantan 4,200 GAR assessment (CSBKI00) plus freight to the basis port Koh Sichang in Thailand. The freight component uses the same-day DBF Thermal Coal East Kalimantan-Kohsichang 55 kt $/mt Supramax assessment (CEKCC00).

This followed an update to the Platts SEAT specifications to reflect a change to the underlying FOB Kalimantan 4,200 GAR coal assessment specifications effective Oct. 30, 2025.
