Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, clarifies its publishing guidelines for participants wishing to report bids or offers in its Brazil fuels assessment process as direct, confirmed data.
When determining a final market assessment, Platts gives the highest priority to fully verifiable and transparent market information shared by entities that have been reviewed for participation in the Market on Close assessment process.
In the more nascent Brazil fuel markets, Platts may publish firm bids or offers as direct, confirmed data for gasoline or diesel on an FCA basis that are open to the marketplace as a whole at the main terminals it publishes assessments for: Itaqui, Suape, Santos, Paranagua, Paulinia and Araucaria.
Firm bids or offers published by Platts as direct, confirmed data would include typical terms relevant to the commodity, such as type of loading/delivery, location, timing, quantity, etc. Bids or offers for material loading over dates falling outside of the methodology's assessment period, and/or other relevant locations in Brazil (such as Belem, Vila do Conde, Senador Canedo, Canoas etc.) may be published and normalized to reflect the assessment basis. Bids and offers may be submitted on a named or unnamed basis.
Firm bids or offers published as Direct, Confirmed Data will be available on the real-time Platts Global Alert 0002 page, S&P Global Energy Core and on relevant communication tools with the market.
Named example [Direct, Confirmed Data]
Brazil Diesel S10: Seller XYZ reports offer, FCA Santos, at Petrobras EXA Paulinia -R$100/cu m, 1,500 cu m, May 1-8 delivery, upfront payment
Unnamed example [Direct, Confirmed Data]
Brazil Gasoline: Company B reports bid, FCA Suape, at Petrobras ETM Ipojuca +R$1220/cu m, 750 cu m, May 13-20 delivery
Firm bids and offers published as Direct, Confirmed Data would be subject to the same timing and increment market-on-close guidelines for Brazil Refined Products, proposed in a May 22, 2026, subscriber note and set to be introduced July 6, 2026, available here .
