June 22, 2026
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will launch daily Dutch Advanced Ethanol FOB ARA assessments, effective Aug. 3, 2026.
This reflects increased market interest in ethanol eligible for Dutch Advanced renewable transport compliance use.
Platts will assess an outright value, as well as a premium to the Ethanol T2 FOB Rotterdam paper market.
The assessment will reflect undenatured fuel ethanol meeting Platts T2 FOB Rotterdam product purity specification requirements as listed in the specification guide, but produced from feedstocks qualifying as advanced in the Netherlands, including feedstocks and definitions listed in:
Material categorized as Annex IX-B under the Renewable Energy Directive will not be reflected.
The Dutch Advanced Ethanol assessment will reflect a minimum of 9 .4 g of CO2e per megajoule, equivalent to minimum greenhouse gas savings of 90% versus a fossil-fuel comparator of 94 g CO2e/MJ under the European Commission's Renewable Energy Directive (RED III) framework, versus the Renewable Energy Directive fossil comparator of 94g CO2e/MJ.
The assessments will reflect a T2 duty-paid FOB Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp basis, with a volume of 1,000 metric tons. Other volumes will be considered, but may be normalized to reflect the basis volume.
The Dutch Advanced ethanol assessments will reflect an any-month loading barge. The assessment will roll from front month (M1) to reflect loading in the next month (M2), eight clear working days before the end of the current month.
For example, if the current month is August and M1 is September, from Aug. 3-17, Platts will reflect material loading in the month of September, and the premium will be published against the September paper. On Aug. 19, 8 clear working days before the end of the month, the assessment will roll to reflect loading in October, and the premium will be published relative to the October paper.
This differs from the current month rollover to M1 proposed here. The launch date has also changed from July 14 to Aug. 3 following market feedback.
The outright and premium assessments will be published in Eur/cu m.
