Electric Power
May 08, 2026
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has updated the installed battery storage energy systems (BESS) capacities for the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), effective May 8.
Updated capacities apply to the following Hubs and Zones:
Platts utilized publicly available capacity data from both ISOs. This data is used to calculate average BESS unit profits, costs, and revenues in energy-only markets.
The impacted indexes can be found at the link here .
Platts tracks revenues and costs for system operators throughout the day (hours 1–24) using battery storage charge and discharge output, as well as hourly ISO prices. Additionally, Platts calculates final net revenues for the day and publishes a spread between positive and negative values:
The indexes are published in Megawatt Daily, Energy Trader, and Alert Pages PEA3051 and AGP3051.
