Refined Products, Gasoline
May 07, 2026
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will launch US Atlantic Coast-based Colonial Pipeline Line 3 Space assessments from June 1, which will coincide with the Cycle timing of the prompt Colonial Pipeline 62-grade ULSD assessment and the prompt Colonial Pipeline A-grade gasoline assessment coming off Colonial's Line 3 multiproduct pipeline at Greensboro, North Carolina.
The two new Line 3 Space assessments are additions to existing US Gulf Coast-based Line 3 Space assessments, which coincide with the timing of the prompt Colonial Pipeline 62-grade ULSD assessment and the prompt Colonial Pipeline A-grade gasoline assessment for loading on Colonial's Line 2 and Line 1 pipelines, respectively, at Pasadena, Texas.
Feedback from market participants has indicated support for the additional Line 3 Space assessments to benefit USAC-focused market participants and to avoid disrupting existing Line 3 USGC-based assessments, which are often combined with Line 1 and Line 2 Space assessments.
Colonial Pipeline ships around 2.5 million b/d of refined products from Pasadena, Texas, to Linden, New Jersey. Gasoline-only Line 1 and distillates-only Line 2 funnel into multiproduct Line 3 at Greensboro, North Carolina, before delivering product to the East Coast. Colonial scheduling is based on 72 cycles per year or six cycles per month.
Line Space is a secondary market for the right to ship on Colonial's system and can be traded as a positive or negative value.
Platts' current assessments for Colonial Pipeline Line Space will be updated to include "USGC" to distinguish that the timing basis is different from the proposed USAC-based assessments.
Platts' current assessments for Colonial Pipeline Line Space include:
