Platts discontinues UK clean spark spreads with Carbon Price Support season-ahead for April 2028

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has discontinued with immediate effect its UK clean spark spread assessments that include the Carbon Price Support (CPS) for the period starting April 2028, following the CPS removal announcement by the UK government April 16 2026.

Platts continues to publish UK clean spark spread assessments, which exclude the CPS. The full suite of assessments can be found here.

The symbols to be discontinued with immediate effect reflect the April 2028 period and read as follows:

Platts has also removed from the database the baseload and peakload clean spark spread for the season-ahead with CPS included, reflecting the period for April 2028 from April 16, 2026.

Platts will gradually discontinue the baseload and peakload clean spark spread for season ahead, quarter-ahead, month-ahead, and day-ahead, which include the CPS. The symbols will be phased out as their respective forward delivery periods roll into April 2028.
