Platts reshapes Americas aromatics coverage

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has reshaped its Americas aromatics market coverage to better reflect typical market practice and provide enhanced insights to its customers, effective April 10, 2026.

Platts first proposed changes to its aromatics coverage on Jan. 30, 2026, in a subscriber note available here . The communication to implement these changes was subsequently published on Feb. 18 in a note available here .

FREQUENCY : Platts has started publishing its US Gulf commercial-grade toluene and orthoxylene and its FOB Brazil mixed xylene and nitration-grade toluene spot price assessments on a daily basis to align with the frequency of Platts nitration-grade toluene and mixed xylenes assessments. Previously, these assessments were published every Friday.

LAYCAN : The loading laycan of Platts orthoxylene, mixed xylene FOB Brazil and nitration grade toluene FOB Brazil spot prices, now represent current-month loading. The assessments roll to the next month five calendar days prior to the end of the month. For example, on April 25, the assessments will reflect April, and on April 26, the assessments will reflect May. Previously, these assessments reflected a 3-30 day forward loading laycan.

CALENDAR: As part of the change, the FOB Brazil price assessments now follow the US publication calendar.
