Platts modifies renewable diesel RIN multiplier March 30, 2026

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has modified the Renewable Identification Number (RIN) multiplier, component of the Platts renewable diesel prices and margin indicators, effective March 30, 2026.

This change considers the latest guidance stated in the final rule for the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) for 2026 and 2027, found here.

Under the previously proposed Renewable Fuel Standard rule, the equivalence value for renewable diesel specified would change to 1.6 RIN/gal from 1.7 RIN/gal. Platts adjusted the RIN multiplier accordingly on Jan 2, 2026, in a subscriber note found here. However, in the final RFS ruling for 2026 and 2027 published March 27, the Environmental Protection Agency established that renewable diesel multiplier would be delayed to Jan 1, 2027.

Therefore, Platts has changed the RIN multiplier for all renewable diesel assessments with credits attached to 1.7 RIN/gal.

The impacted assessments are:

Platts publishes biomass-based diesel and SAF prices in Platts Connect, Biofuelscan, Biomass-Based Diesel Report and fixed pages PBF0010, PBF0011 and PBF0012. SAF prices also appear in the Oilgram Price Report, Global Ethanol Report and fixed pages PGA0158, PRF0158, PGA0450, PRF0450, PGA0480, PRF0480, PGA0483 and PRF0483.
