Platts proposes frequency changes for Brazilian domestic steel assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, proposes to increase the frequency of its domestic Brazilian flat and long steel price assessments to daily, from weekly, effective April 20, 2026. The proposed change aims to better capture increased market liquidity.

The frequency change would impact the following assessments. All other specifications would remain unchanged:

SymbolDescription
SB01190Rebar 10MM EXW Brazil Domestic Production (Real/mt)
SB01138HRC EXW Brazil Domestic Production (Real/mt)
SB01080CRC EXW Brazil Domestic Production (Real/mt)
SB01117HDG Brazil Domestic Production (Real/mt)

In addition to the frequency change, Platts proposes the launch of new weekly and monthly averages for each of the above assessments.

Platts full steel specifications can be found in the Global Steel, Ferrous Scrap, Ferroalloys, and Noble Alloys guide, available at the following link: Global Steel Methodology Guide .

The daily assessments, which would follow Platts Brazil holiday schedule, would be published at the Sao Paulo market close (4:30 PM local time).

The daily assessments, along with the associated weekly and monthly averages, would be published on fixed pages MW1315 and ST1315, in Steel Business Briefing, Steel Price Report, and in the Platts price database.

Platts invites feedback on this proposal to LatAmMetalsteam@spglobal.com and pricegroup@spglobal.com by March 18.
