Platts proposes to discontinue I-REC India Hydro assessments, April 1

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, proposes to discontinue the current-year and previous-year I-REC India Hydro price assessments, effective April 1, 2026.

The proposal reflects the minimal issuance of hydro I-RECs in India since October 2024. When Platts first began assessing hydro I-RECs in 2022, total hydro issuance stood at around 3.7 TWh, accounting for roughly 60% of total I-REC issuance of 6 TWh that year. In 2025, however, hydro issuance in India fell sharply to about 0.1 TWh, out of 17 TWh in total I-REC issuance, representing just 0.58% of the market.

As of Oct. 27, 2025, the current-year and previous-year I-REC India Hydro price assessments have been suspended, with further details available here.

The price assessments affected by this discontinuation would be as follows:

Symbol Description
ACERN00 I-REC India Hydro Current Year $/MWh
ACERP00 I-REC India Hydro Current Year Eur/MWh
ACERL00 I-REC India Hydro Current Year INR/MWh
