Platts launches four new daily US chicken price assessments March 2

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has launched four new daily US chicken price assessments effective March 2, 2026.

These new assessments complement the existing Platts "field-to-fork" coverage of US protein and animal feed, which includes the US Chicken Marker and US boneless skinless breast, while providing increased transparency to the global chicken market.

The new assessments target additional chicken cuts primarily traded in the US domestic market, with the largest concentration of chicken broiler facilities located in Southeast states.

The specifications for the new price assessments are as follows:

Assessment name: Chicken Thighs EXW US

Quality: Fresh, boneless, skinless thighs, jumbo sizing defined as from birds with a live weight of above 7.75 pounds

Quantity: Minimum one truckload defined by 40,000 lb of product

Basis and Location: Ex-works US Southeast defined as facilities in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Texas

Timing: Loading within seven days from the date of publication

Payment terms: Cash against documents

Unit of assessment: US dollars per lb and a conversion to $/metric ton

Market Close: 1:30 pm Houston

Assessment name: Chicken Tenderloins EXW US

Quality: Fresh breast tenderloin, jumbo sizing defined as from birds with a live weight of above 7.75 lb

Quantity: Minimum one truckload defined by 40,000 lb of product

Basis and location: Ex-works US Southeast defined as facilities in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Texas

Timing: Loading within seven days from the date of publication

Payment terms: Cash against documents

Unit of assessment: US dollars per lb and a conversion to $/mt

The assessments are based on bids, offers, trades and market activity reported to Platts before 1:30 pm Houston time and reflect the prevailing market value at the time of close.

The assessments follow the Platts US publishing calendar.
