Platts extends solar PV price assessments in India

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has launched a domestic India photovoltaic solar module price assessment series, effective Feb. 26.

The assessments reflect the price of solar modules manufactured in India, using the two main cell production pathways: PERC with an output of 520-680 watts and TOPCon with an output of 570-720W, with wafer sizes in the 182-210 mm range. Modules manufactured from imported cells, particularly of Chinese origin, are deemed the basis for assessment purposes.

The assessments also reflect contract volumes of 5-50 megawatts, scheduled for shipment 7-15 days from the assessment date, on an ex-works Gujarat basis.

Platts may normalize information with differing specifications heard in the market to the above assessment specifications. Normalization brings market information in line with the Platts-assessed specifications.

The new assessments are as follows:

Platts has been publishing daily solar module price assessments covering China, Europe and the US since August 2024. In July 2025, Platts launched FOB India price assessments reflecting India's increasing presence in international markets. The launch of these India domestic price assessments is in response to the increasing growth of solar electricity power generation in India and the expansion of India's PV manufacturing capacity, which now exceeds 100 GW, according to Indian government data.

The assessments reflect an Indian time stamp (1630 IST) and follow the Platts India publishing schedule. A US cents per watt currency conversion is also published. The assessments are added to the Platts solar module assessment table and published in Platts European Power Daily and Platts REC Daily.

Platts first proposed to launch these assessments on Dec. 10, 2025, and published its decision to launch these assessments on Jan. 20, 2026.
