Chemicals, Refined Products, Aromatics, Gasoline
February 24, 2026
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, proposes to launch new gasoline blend value calculations, effective from May 1.
These calculations would represent the theoretical blend value of alkylate, raffinate, reformate, mixed xylenes, toluene and MTBE for use as gasoline blendstocks, utilizing an industry standard formula.
Under this proposal, these values would be calculated on a daily basis and appear on PGF0760, PGF0761, North American Crude and Products Scan, Europe and Americas Petrochemicalscan, Platts Core and in the Platts Price Point Database.
The inputs for the formula would include the following Platts' symbols:
| Assessment Name | Incoterm | Location | Currency | UOM | Symbol |
| Gasoline CBOB 87 USGC Houston prompt pipeline | FOB | Houston | USC | Gallon | AARQU00 |
| Gasoline CBOB 93 USGC Houston Prompt Pipeline | FOB | Houston | USC | Gallon | AARQV00 |
| Gasoline CBOB 87 USGC Houston Prompt Pipeline RVP | N/A | Houston | N/A | psi | AARQURV |
| Butane Enterprise Mt Belvieu Mo01 | DAP | Mont Belvieu | USC | Gallon | PMAAI00 |
And include the following octane and RVP values for each blending component:
| Blending Component | Octane | RVP |
| Alkylate | 92 | 5 |
| Raffinate | 60 | 4 |
| Reformate | 100 | 1 |
| MTBE | 111 | 8 |
| Toluene | 105 | 1.5 |
| Mixed Xylenes | 106 | 1.75 |
The formula for the outright value that the calculation would be based on would be as follows:
Where rBOB represents regular Gasoline CBOB 87 USGC Houston prompt pipeline and pBOB represents premium Gasoline CBOB 93 USGC Houston Prompt Pipeline.
Platts also proposes to amend the existing gasoline blend value calculations that are given as a differential for alkylate, raffinate, reformate, mixed xylenes, toluene and MTBE for use as gasoline blendstocks, to clarify the underlying approach and improve transparency.
The calculations would reflect a value as a differential to the front-month NYMEX RBOB price, in line with observed trading practices in these markets.
The front-month NYMEX RBOB settlement (AARS001) would be subtracted from the outright blend value calculated by the formula above, in order to give a blend value as a differential.
The symbols proposed to be amended are as follows:
| Blending Component | Symbol |
| Alkylate blend value | AASFE00 |
| Raffinate blend value | AATAS00 |
| Reformate blend value | AASFG00 |
| MTBE blend value | AATAR00 |
| Toluene blend value | AASFI00 |
| Mixed xylenes blend value | AASFH00 |
