Platts to update project type for Vietnamese Hydro I-REC price assessment, March 2

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will update its Vietnamese Hydro I-REC assessments to reflect I-RECS generated from small hydropower plants, effective March 2, 2026.

Platts first proposed updating the assessment on Feb. 9, 2025, in a subscriber note available here.

Platts' proposed change is intended to align the assessments with market preferences to procure small hydro I-RECs instead of large hydro I-RECs, due to RE100 requirements.

RE100 is a coalition of over 400 international companies committed to exclusively using renewable energy. Effective January 2024, the initiative requires that sourced electricity come from power generation facilities less than 15 years old. This effort aims to stimulate new investments in renewable energy, including hydropower, while reducing CO2 emissions.

The assessments that will be impacted by this change are as follows:

SymbolAssessment DescriptionProject Type
AYSII00

AYSIJ00

I-REC Vietnam Hydro Previous Year $/MWh

The assessments are found in the fixed pages PEP1102, PEP1105, CLE2201, EVA2009, EVA2002 and in Platts REC Daily, Platts Megawatt Daily, and Platts European Power Daily.
