Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will change the methodology for its European hydrochloric acid assessments to reflect technical grade by-product hydrochloric acid with an HCL content of 30%-33% for delivery via truck and rail, effective March 11.
The current methodology stipulates that Platts assesses technical grade materials produced as a by-product during polyurethane production with an HCL content of 30%-33%, delivered by truck.
The change to the methodology was first proposed in a subscriber note published on Jan. 28 and is available here.
