S&P Global Platts is clarifying its methodology for US Southeast power price assessments around US public holidays.
Prior to US public holidays, Southeast on-peak weekend assessments and off-peak day-ahead assessments are altered to accommodate holidays that S&P Global Platts observes. The Southeast on-peak weekend assessment packages include on-peak hours for observed holidays, while off-peak day-ahead assessment packages include off-peak hours for observed holidays.
S&P Global Platts assesses the US Southeast power market with the methodology stated above in line with the S&P Global Platts US holiday schedule, which is available at https://www.platts.com/holiday. In formulating these assessments around holidays, S&P Global Platts staff does not differentiate between US public holidays that S&P Global Platts observes and the North American Electric Reliability Council holidays.
The S&P Global Platts North American electricity methodology is available at https://www.platts.com/IM.Platts.Content/MethodologyReferences/MethodologySpe cs/na_power_method.pdf. Details about assessments for weekend-delivery power and holidays are on page 4 of methodology.
S&P Global Platts invites all comments and questions about the assessment methodology for US public holidays to be sent to electricityprice@platts.com with a copy to pricegroup@spglobal.com by March 9, 2018.
