Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, proposes to launch weekly ex-works Turkey spot assessments for both virgin polyethylene terephthalate and recycled PET light blue flakes, effective April 1.
The proposed assessments, the first Turkish PET and R-PET assessments to be published by Platts, would complement existing global PET and R-PET Platts assessments.
The new ex-works Turkey assessments would be published in $/metric ton and would take into consideration price information gathered up to the close of the assessment process each Wednesday at 4:30 pm London time.
Details of the proposed specifications:
| Description | PET bottle grade | R-PET light blue flakes |
| Product specifications | IV level 0.7-0.86 | IV level 0.72-0.78 |
| Basis and location | EXW Turkey | EXW Turkey |
| Size | Minimum of 20 mt | Minimum of 20 mt |
| Laycan | Three to 15 days forward | Three to 15 days forward |
| UOM | $/mt | $/mt |
Pricing information with terms, locations and specifications different from the above standard may be considered for assessment purposes, subject to normalization.
Platts would publish a Turkish PET and R-PET commentary and rationale on Wednesdays, which would include information on the new assessments and would also appear on Platts Core, Platts Petrochemical Alert fixed pages 503, 441, 574, Platts Market Center, and in Polymerscan and Sustainable Polymerscan.
